What is Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)?
It is a very stable surfboard to stand on and use a long paddle in your hand to glide across the water and experience sea life and landscape that normally cannot be accessed.
Do I have to know how to surf?
Not at all, but you must know how to swim. Unless you specify stand up paddleboard surf lesson, you will be in still water.
Is there a minimum or maximum age or size to paddle?
The minimum age is 7 years old. Has long as you are in good health there is no reason why seniors cannot paddle! Also, our boards can handle up to 285 lbs, so come out a paddle for a great workout!
What do I need to bring?
Please wear a swimsuit and sun protection. You may also want to bring something to drink (we will have limited water). We also sell all natural sunscreen with zinc, polarized sunglasses with lanyard, hats, and sun shirts if you would like to purchase them.
What about weather and water conditions?
A light mist in the hot weather is okay for paddling. But no padding in heavy rain or thunderstorms! We will then reschedule. If in doubt, please call. Also, if we deem the water conditions for the day dangerous we reserve the right to reschedule (safety first).
Where do I go for my lesson?
Once you specify the area you are based in and the date and time you prefer, we will email you the location details that are closest to your needs.
Is gratuity included?
No, but it is not required. If you want to let your instructor know what a great job he or she did, it is a way to do that! Or referrals are always welcome too!
Do you do parties, events, youth groups etc?
Yes, we love to! It is a great way to get kids involved in a fun sport and outdoors! Also, it is a wonderful team building experience for work parties.
What is your refund and rescheduling policy?
Weather Delays: All lessons will take place at their scheduled time as long as the weather permits. Urban Kai reserves the right to postpone lessons at their discretion due to weather or conditions they deem unsafe. If conditions or weather prevent the lesson from taking place, the lesson will be rescheduled for future convenient time or credit will be issued for future lesson.
Cancellations: Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
Rescheduling: If there are open times, you may reschedule so up to 24 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. If there are no open times, cancellation terms will apply. Lessons may be rescheduled one time only.
No Shows: There is no refund or re-scheduling for no-show lessons.
Circumstances: We are not responsible for expenses incurred due to transportation related delays, illness, or any other circumstances.
Refund/ Return Policy:
• UPS now charges for any “refused” shipment. You will incur a “refund shipment” charge plus the reship charge if an order cannot be accepted from the UPS delivery person, and is returned to us.
•All returns MUST be approved prior to return and a “Return Authorization” number MUST be obtained.
•All returned goods must be current items and in resale condition (unless defective).
•Credit will be issued subject to a restocking charge
